Notice Title

Peatland Data Collection and Restoration Design

Notice Description

-Data collection:Feature mapping will be needed on each site. Using basic desktop survey data to confirm the presence of every mapped feature, editing it if it's mapped incorrectly and mapping any extra features observed. Examples of features to include are haggs and gully edges that would need reprofiling, gullies that are draining the peat, dendritic/patchwork areas and bare peat areas. Extra information will be needed, such as width of gullies, height of haggs.Peat depth measurements will help us to identify which methods of restoration would be appropriate across the site. We would expect them roughly every 10m along the base of gullies, similar frequency on patchwork areas, also every so often on the gully banks and on areas of modified peat that are a potential for contour bunding, in order to gain overall knowledge of the sites various depths.Template shapefiles will be provided for this data collection.-Restoration plans:Once all data is collected we would like a detailed Restoration plan document to be produced, containing information on the proposed interventions, predicted budgets, risk assessments, assessment of impacts and more.A template can be provided.-Peatland Code:A Peatland Code survey will be required. This includes survey points across the sites, in a 100m grid. At each point, data is to be gathered from a 10m square survey area. This data will include a photo, 3 peat depth measurements and a basic vegetation survey. This method is referred to as the Peatland Rapid Assessment Protocol. We would like the necessary documents prepared for the Peatland Code Application, this includes an emissions calculator, map of conditions and buffer zones, cost breakdowns and design documents. The templates for these can also be provided.-one site is 53ha and one 35ha.The areas are slightly flexible in terms of potential to decrease or increase in size.We will accept tenders for either the whole works or for a specific site, please provide a price breakdown per site you're interested in.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=140565.
