Arts & Business Cymru Business Review

Notice Description

A&B Cymru is the only Welsh organisation which specialises in bringing the private sector and the arts together for their mutual benefit. With 36 years' experience and a network which spans the country, it is an invaluable point of contact for the hundreds of organisations and people that it serves. The team works closely with its 240+ members, ranging from individual arts practitioners to flagship creative organisations, and businesses, from sole traders through to multi-national corporations.A&B Cymru knows that when business and the arts come together in true partnership, both become stronger and the positive impact can be tangibly felt on wider society. This work makes a direct and far-reaching contribution to ensuring a fairer, more prosperous Wales.Through the focussed development of income and skills, A&B Cymru encourages innovation, resilience and sustainability in the arts. Its work encourages less dependency on public funding and supports the creation of robust business models, helping to strengthen the economic base for the sector in Wales. For business, A&B Cymru provides unique solutions to core challenges through the arts. The charity facilitates tailored partnerships which use creative techniques to deliver measurable success. Through its extensive network and proven expertise, A&B Cymru helps businesses to address Marketing, Corporate Social Responsibility and Staff Development objectives in effective, focused ways.A full description of A&B Cymru's programmes and services can be found at Appendix 2.Current Position and Reason for ReviewWhile A&B Cymru's services are more in demand than ever before from the arts, the organisation faces an insecure future. The current level of income that the small, busy team is able to generate is insufficient, making the charity unsustainable.A&B Cymru has an impressive track record of securing a true diversity of income. This is drawn from a combination of public and private sector funding, membership subscriptions, sponsorship and earned income. Despite this multi-layered approach, attracting adequate revenue is proving extremely challenging in the current climate. A loss is projected in 2023/24 for the second consecutive year, which will reduce the charity's free reserves to just over PS26K. The charity therefore wishes to commission an independent review of its current operating model, identifying a new financial structure for the charity which is both fit for purpose and realistic.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=141044.
