Notice Description

The Welsh Government (on behalf of the Welsh Ministers) is commissioning a study to identify the influence of wider socio-economic conditions on democratic participation in Wales. The aim of this work is to consider how socio-economic factors impact on an individual's ability to get involved in local democracy and stand for elected office in devolved elections in Wales, focusing on the key barriers individuals face and how they might be addressed in the future. This will provide evidence to inform the next stages of the Welsh Government's focus on increasing diversity in democracy.A mixed methods approach encompassing quantitative and qualitative research methods will be required under the contract, making use of existing data and through primary data collection and analysis. A final bilingual GSR report and summary will be published on the Welsh Government website.
