Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) at Cardiff and Vale College, undertaken by Bouygues UK, is currently in the award stage. The project, valued at approximately 119 million GBP, is part of a larger scheme under the Mutual Investment Model and is situated near Cardiff Airport. Comprising flexible teaching spaces and specialist facilities, the ATC will support nearly 2,000 learners and 215 staff. The structural steelwork package, with an estimated value of around 1,743,515 GBP, invites subcontractor interest. Bouygues UK, the buying organisation, is located at Cardiff Gate Business Park. The tender stage concluded on 26 June 2025, and the award process is set to complete by 1 September 2025, with project works already initiated in June 2025 and completion anticipated in 2027.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies specialising in structural steelworks and erection work for buildings and structures, as highlighted by the relevant CPV codes. Businesses with capabilities in such areas, particularly those able to meet Constructionline Gold verification, financial, and insurance standards, will find this a promising opportunity. With the procurement stage now focusing on contract award, the project offers a chance to engage in a significant educational infrastructure development, promoting growth for companies adept in public sector procurement, particularly within the Welsh business context. Potential subcontractors are encouraged to submit their interest and technical queries via the Sell2Wales platform, with business-to-business transactions being the primary focus.
