In 2019 the Welsh Government commissioned research to assess the potential social, economic and environmental impacts of banning several single-use plastic products. The initial research did not cover three products, which we initially assessed using a targeted engagement approach:a. Plastic single use carrier bagsb. Polystyrene lids for cups and food containers; andc. Oxo-degradable plastics (ODPs) - not covered in detailThe Welsh Government intends to use this contract to further understand the economic impact in the UK and in Wales of the implementation of bans or restrictions to the supply of these products in Wales.
