Summary of the contracting process

Bouygues UK is overseeing a significant public procurement project for Cardiff and Vale College, titled "WEP I Cardiff and Vale College (CaVC) Project Batch: D&B Contract Selection Questionnaire (SQ)". This major development is under the Mutual Investment Model (MIM), with a budget of 119 million GBP, focusing on the construction of the Barry Waterfront Campus located in Barry's Waterfront Innovation Quarter. The new campus, spanning 5,980 square metres, is designed to accommodate approximately 900 students, offering courses across various disciplines with public-facing facilities such as a restaurant and salon. Key dates include the tender period ending on 26th June 2025 and construction commencing in June 2025 with a projected completion in 2027. Potential subcontractors are being invited to express their interest for the internal partitions and ceilings package, valued at approximately 1,916,031 GBP. The current procurement stage is the award phase, following Bouygues UK's contract acquisition.

This tender represents a substantial opportunity for growth in the construction sector, particularly for businesses specialising in internal partitions, ceilings, plasterboard, and plastering work. Companies capable of navigating the subcontractor verification process, including Constructionline Gold verification, and who meet the financial and insurance requirements of Bouygues UK, stand to benefit significantly. The construction project offers numerous subcontracting opportunities, presenting a valuable prospect for skilled trade businesses in and around Cardiff looking to expand their operations. Engaging in such a high-profile project can enhance a company's portfolio and provide further engagement with subsequent large-scale public procurement projects. Businesses should take note that the invitation to tender (ITT) will be issued upon successful initial verification and that this is a speculative subcontracting opportunity.
