This project seeks to identify and record cultural sites of significance to ethnically and culturally diverse communities in Wales, to enhance representation within the Historic Environment Record (HER). This work builds on a successful first year of scoping activity in southeast Wales and is intended to expand and deepen the understanding and documentation of underrepresented cultural heritage across Wales, and to raise awareness of the HER and its contents to people who may not currently use it.2. Background and ContextThe Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan (ArWAP) commits the Welsh Government and its partners to taking meaningful, long-term action to tackle structural and institutional racism. Within this, the heritage sector is tasked with ensuring the historic environment record is inclusive, representative, and reflective of all communities.
