Cyngor Gwynedd needs to commission a provider to provide equality training, specifically on anti-racsim issues, to enable our staff to develop their understanding of the broad field, in a safe and supportive environment.The organisation recognises the importance of having staff better understand the field, in order to create a fair and inclusive society that is conscious of and responsive to racial injustice.Note - This training will be part of a wider programme, which looks to ensure staff receive specific training on different areas of equality. The intention is to offer further titles in the field that discuss specific protected characteristics, highlighting different barriers that diverse communities face.The Council wishes to appoint a provider who can deliver the training in Welsh and English.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=155842.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility. A user guide is available at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/sitehelp/help_guides.aspx.Suppliers are advised to allow adequate time for uploading documents and to dispatch the electronic response well in advance of the closing time to avoid any last minute problems. The training will:- Empower staff to recognise and respond to racism in their workplace or community- Build staff confidence by dealing with diverse communities- Reduce stigma, prejudice and inequality- Emphasise the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignityThe main requirements of the training include:- An overview that is easy to understand, without going into too much detail, bearing in mind that this is an introduction to the field and will be a starting point for many people- Life experience - whether that's from the trainer directly or in videos/stories presented during the training- An introduction to what racism is, the history and impact- Understanding the difference between not being racist and being racist- Learn about how race is intertwined with other characteristics such as gender, disability, sexual orientation and age (Intersectionality)- Promoting an inclusive culture that values diversity- Reinforcing respect and dignity in the workplace and in the community- An opportunity for staff to ask questions in a safe environment- Practical elements(WA Ref:155842)
