This public procurement record has 1 release in its history.

Summary of the contracting process

GCRE Ltd, based in Neath Port Talbot, is in the planning stage of a public procurement process for an investment partner to develop Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and a data centre at its site in South Wales. The opportunity, titled "GCRE Energy & Data Centre Opportunity," involves transforming a 700-hectare site that aims to become Europe's leading centre for rail and sustainable mobility innovation. It is a works category project in the electricity and energy sectors. Interested parties must submit executed Confidentiality Agreements to access documentation via the eTenderWales portal. The procurement is scheduled to close at 12 noon on 21 November 2025.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses in the energy, engineering, and construction industries to partner with a government-backed organisation on a large-scale project. Companies experienced in renewable energy, data centre development, and fibre connectivity would find this opportunity particularly aligned with their core competencies. The project promises long-term potential, given the political support and the strategic location near major urban centres like Bridgend and Cardiff, which are already developing data centre clusters. The presence of significant grid infrastructure, combined with the focus on net-zero operations, enhances its appeal for businesses seeking growth through sustainable initiatives.
