The Contract comprises the replacement of the existing electrical switchgear, the existing generator, the existing distribution boards to four floors and the upgrading of the building's earthing. The existing diesel generator is rated at 155kva and will be replaced with one of a similar size, this element of the works will be carried out prior to the end of March 2014. Contractors should be aware that the timescale for the project is critical and the works to migrate from the original switchgear to the new must take place over the weekend commencing Friday May 2nd and be complete by Monday May 5th 2014. The new switchgear will occupy the footprint of the original. The four distribution boards are currently linked to the main switchgear via a riser busbar (the busbar is not to be replaced). It is intended that the boards will be replaced over the same weekend as the main switchgear works.
