Summary of the contracting process

Transport Scotland is the buying organisation responsible for the recently completed tender titled "A737 Dalry Bypass," which involves the design, construction, completion, and maintenance of approximately 3.8 kilometres of new single carriageway trunk road in North Ayrshire, located east of Dalry, approximately 40 km south-west of Glasgow. This procurement process was conducted through a selective method, specifically using competitive dialogue, indicating a more collaborative approach in developing solutions. The contract was awarded on 26 May 2017, following a detailed planning process that began earlier in 2016.

This project presents significant opportunities for businesses within the construction and engineering sectors, particularly those with expertise in roadway construction, civil engineering, and sustainable infrastructure development. Companies specialised in the provision of roadworks, drainage systems, and environmental mitigation efforts would be particularly well-suited to engage in similar future tenders. The comprehensive nature of the contract, including five years of ongoing maintenance, also opens avenues for firms focused on long-term service provision and upkeep of transportation infrastructure.
