Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh has recently completed a public procurement process for the construction of the new Institute for Regeneration and Repair, a project aimed at bolstering the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine's future strategy. The tendering process utilised a selective procurement method with a restricted procedure, and the contract was awarded on 24th July 2017. Situated in Edinburgh, the project encompasses key infrastructure including a TRF and gym, providing enhanced facilities for 250 researchers, along with laboratory and collaboration spaces. The procurement process for this project has now concluded.

This contract represents a significant opportunity for construction firms and contractors specialising in large-scale building projects, particularly those with experience in educational or medical infrastructure. Businesses that are well-suited to compete should possess expertise in delivering complex works under stringent timelines, and be capable of effectively collaborating with academic institutions. The focus on expanding the research capabilities at the BioQuarter campus also highlights a growing demand for innovative construction solutions in the education sector.
