Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process concerns the Greater Glasgow Health Board, known as the Authority, and involves the tender for the "SLC818/2016 Radiotherapy, Linear Accelerator, NHS GG and C" initiative. This project falls under the health sector and is located in Edinburgh, UK. Currently, it is in the Award stage, with the contract signed on 14 October 2016. The procurement method employed was an open procedure, aimed at acquiring goods, specifically three linear accelerators intended for the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow, as part of the Scottish Government's Radiotherapy Capital Equipment Replacement Programme.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for companies in the medical equipment sector, particularly those specialising in advanced radiotherapy technology. Businesses with a proven track record, possessing relevant certifications and the capacity to supply complex medical devices are well-suited to compete. The contract requires bidders to demonstrate a minimum annual turnover of £15 million over the last three years, ensuring that capable suppliers can efficiently meet the demands of this highly technical equipment supply and ensure comprehensive service delivery. This may be an excellent opportunity for established manufacturers or suppliers with the ability to manage large tenders and provide certified medical apparatus.
