Summary of the contracting process

Transport Scotland is soliciting tenders for the "Gourock Dunoon Town Centre Ferry Services," aimed at providing ferry services between Gourock and Dunoon. The procurement, classified under the transport services category, is currently in the planning stage, following a competitive procedure with negotiation. The deadline for tender submissions is set for 19 August 2016, with the expected operational contract period extending until June 2029. Prospective bidders should note that the new services will require two vessels, optimised for speed and capable of operating various fuel types, commencing operations by mid-2017.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in maritime transport, vessel operation, and related services. Companies that are equipped for ferry operations, particularly those with experience in managing passenger transport and complying with relevant safety and environmental standards, are well-suited to compete. The potential for additional services, such as vehicle-carrying and extended routes, may further attract those looking to expand their offerings in the ferry transport sector, supporting business growth in this competitive landscape.
