- A large Intel Broadwell based system that will provide a well-run cores-based service for Tier-2 users in the UK (GDP1,592,720.42). - An extra login node, a data service node, high performance lustre storage expansion (to meet the needs of more users and higher core count) (GDP128,372.94). - A next generation Research Data Facility for Tier 2 with associated data services and linked to the current RDF (GDP388,896.64). Total GDP2,059,990.00 Ex VAT.

The contracting authority, through EPCC are cost effectively extending an existing SGI ICE XA system and storage which has a half-full E-Cell. The original SCI ICE XA system was competitively tendered and the contracting authority is now seeking to increase the capacity of the original system in accordance with Regulation 33(6)(b) Public Contracts (Scotland)Regulations
Options: If funds become available EPCC may buy additional equipment from the same supplier.

Reg (33)(4)b Where a change in supplier(s) would mean that the University would have compatibility issues or disproportionate technical difficulties; this procedure can be used to acquire additional deliveries from the original supplier when needed to replace or increase supplies or installations.
