Lot Information
Lot 1
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GG&C) wish to enter into a framework agreement with a service provider to provide a system that will enable the Digitisation and review of glass slides within Histopathology. One of the major challenges facing Histopathology is the burden of managing, storing and retrieving glass slides. A Digital Pathology system is sought that will eliminate this burden by allowing glass slides to be quickly digitized and for the generated images to be quickly available for review by staff potentially geographically distant from the physical specimen. Advanced functionality in terms of image display and analysis is expected. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GG&C) wish to work with NHS Lothian to pilot a Digital Pathology system. This pilot will run for 6 months. They system will be expected to interface with a different Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in each board and other systems where appropriate during the pilot. Throughout the pilot, the successful supplier will be expected to provide the software and scanning hardware and to implement and support the system throughout NHS GG&C and NHS Lothian, plus provide training to users of the system with a view to a potential future roll out across the Country. This potential second phase is optional and will depend on successful evaluation of the initial pilot as the basis for a business case for wider roll out. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GG&C) reserves the right not to award a framework as part of this procurement. The contract will be set up as an (NHS GG&C) Framework which will allow NHS Health Boards call off from the framework. Suppliers will be required to deliver the solution both in the pilot phase and potential roll out phase as an Managed Technical Service.
Options: The pilot phase will be carried out and the results of this will depend on whether the solution will be rolled out to other Health Boards.
