In order to carry out the management of the National Forest Estate, Forest Enterprise Scotland requires Civil Engineering Works to support access to, and management of the Estate. The core civil engineering works are to deliver the construction and maintenance of the forest road network and associated infrastructure such as harvesting facilities and extractives sites (quarries). The forest roads activity is critical to and driven by the harvesting and marketing of timber. It also supports all other access and management activities. This includes providing a high quality of public access. The works may be programmed several months in advance but will also include unpredictable work that has to be delivered at short notice. Examples of short notice work include reactive maintenance or responding to timber marketing requirements. Because of the nature of forest roads, the impacts of weather and the varying demands from the timber supply chain it is not possible to say with certainty what work will be required. In addition to this core work the scope also includes emergency and incidental civil engineering works that require the same competencies and machinery. Examples include drainage works, constructing and maintaining tracks and ways, maintenance of paths, car parks and emergency works such as clearing debris flows and landslips For more information on the Forestry Commission, Forest Enterprise Scotland and the Forest Districts please see www.forestry.gov.uk The works are in the scope of the Construction Design and Management Regulations. The works are to be carried out to the United Kingdom Forestry standard and the associated guidelines. All the relevant information can be obtained by accessing the Invitation to tender on the PCST electronic tendering system. Economic Operators may be excluded from this competition if they are in any of the situations referred to in regulation 58 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015
Renewal: Two annual extensions - at the sole discretion of the Forestry commission
