Summary of the contracting process

The Common Services Agency, known as NHS National Services Scotland, has issued a tender for the supply of Bosentan tablets (62.5mg and 125mg) intended for Health Boards across Scotland. This procurement falls under the goods category within the health industry, and the procurement process is at the award stage. The contract was signed on 28 July 2017 and involves a framework agreement requiring delivery to entities governed by the National Health Services (Scotland) Act 1978. The tender was initiated on 18 May 2017, with a submission deadline set for 21 June 2017, at which time bids were opened. The total estimated value for this contract is £4,818,818, covering a duration of 23 months with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for pharmaceutical companies and suppliers of medical goods, particularly those specializing in medicinal products. Businesses that possess a valid UK or EMA Marketing Authorisation for the tendered medicines, along with compliance in quality management systems recognised by ISO standards, would be well-suited to compete for this contract. With the requirement for reliable supply chains and direct delivery capabilities to NHS facilities, companies experienced in pharmaceutical supply and distribution will have the competitive edge to meet the demands of this contract.
