Lot Information

Lot 1

Visit West Lothian (VWL) redeveloped its destination website visitwestlothian.co.uk in 2013 to bring it on a par with other visitor destination websites and to present West Lothian as a place for locals and visitors to enjoy. VWL would now like to replace visitwestlothian.co.uk using the latest version of Umbraco so that we can allow for more user generated content, make functional amendments which reflect some of our more overlooked assets, benefit from an upgraded content management system and modernise the appearance of the website. Below is a list of the main adaptions that we require, but we would welcome the input and guidance of the appointed agency regarding the addition of other functionality which may enhance the site. Essentially we require that the new VWL website: - Provides a more Inclusive digital information service by including detailed accessibility information relating to our venues and activities - Includes a more comprehensive and accessible What's On section which encourages and enables all event organisers to upload their own event content. - Includes a Venues section which brings together details of all relevant meeting/conference venues across West Lothian and includes a search function - Includes a new section on Filming Locations which highlights some of the top filming sites across the county for both visitors and production teams. - Offers a microsite template which can be used to create additional, basic online platforms for some of our Villages & Towns (some of which would benefit from an enhanced online presence) - Is replaced and updated using new branding and typeface, with existing functionality reviewed and other elements added. As part of this project we would also like to create video, 360 and drone footage content for a number of our attractions/venues to help inspire visits. Videos would last a maximum of 1 and a half minutes and all content would be embedded into the relevant business listings/sections on the website. We would like the refreshed Visit West Lothian site to be vibrant adopting a similar typeface and style used on www.visitscotland.com. The family market is a key sector for West Lothian and the site should also reflect this. - The site should be as accessible to as wide an audience as possible, with high levels of usability for our users. - The site should have specialised tools to enable users to customise our website to better suit their access requirements eg. changing the font size, colour and contrast. - The new site should allow us to use different styles/branding on different sections eg. a more historic theme for Linlithgow and a more corporate look for the Venues section.. Please note that this project will go ahead once the remainder of capital has been secured to cover project costs. VWL has applied for funding with a response expected in early September 2017. VWL's focus is to raise the profile of West Lothian's visitor industry and act as collaborator bringing the local tourist trade together to promote and develop West Lothian as a visitor destination.
