"description": "The Health Improvement Fund exists to fund and support health improvement activities across Lothian. The Fund can be used for a wide range of activities seeking to promote health and prevent ill-health, but should not be used for clinical services (regardless of where those clinical services are delivered). The definition of health improvement for the purposes of the fund is given below: \"The main function of health improvement is to find ways of preventing ill-health, protecting good health and promoting better health - this is closely linked to quality of life and the concept of well being. This is achieved by working with local communities and organisations across public, private and voluntary sectors to address the personal, socio-economic and cultural factors that influence the health of each person. Relevant interventions are at the level of group, (inter) organisation, community, whole population and systems. This should be distinguished from clinical interventions that treat individual patients\". Projects that apply for the Health Improvement Fund funding will need to show that they address health improvement as defined above. The project must address health inequalities and target individuals and groups at risk of poorer health outcomes as a result of inequality. The buyer is using PCS-Tender to conduct this ITT exercise. The Project code is 9142. For more information see: http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/info/InfoCentre.aspx?ID=2343 Community benefits are included in this requirement. For more information see: http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/info/InfoCentre.aspx?ID=2361 A summary of the expected community benefits has been provided as follows: NHS Lothian is committed to maximising Community Benefits from its procurement activities in order to build economic, social or environmental conditions into the delivery of contracts. Bidders should detail any social, economic and environmental benefits associated with contract performance during the contract term. In the context of the value and type of services being requested, bidders may wish to consider how they could incorporate: - Work experience - Voluntary sector - Use of Supported Businesses to provide materials for the project - Use of Third Sector, Social Enterprises and/or small/medium enterprises. If there will be no Community Benefits, bidders should state this in their submission. Under this procurement exercise, Community Benefits will in no way be scored / evaluated / taken into account beyond the requirement that Community Benefits information is included in your submission. While Community Benefits will in no way be scored / evaluated / taken into account beyond the requirement that it is included in your submission, they may be incorporated into the contract and would be enforceable as part of the contract.
