The Comhairle has consistently recognised the need for an independent Citizens and Money Advice Service within the Outer Hebrides and over the years has funded money advice and citizens advice services through a third party. The Comhairle requires that the provider will provide a general information and advice service to the public throughout the Western Isles local authority (Comhairle nan Eilean Siar) area, with fixed premises in Stornoway, Castlebay, Tarbert and Balivanich; provide a welfare benefits, housing advice, homelessness advice, debt advice and general advice service to the public throughout the Western Isles local authority area; and provide a specialised money advice service to the general public throughout the Western Isles local authority area. Provide an appropriate Bilingual Service.
