Emergency Mental Health Support - Children & Young People PIN
Notice Description
The City of Edinburgh Council has a requirement to appoint and contract a named agency who are able to support young people who are suicidal, self-harming or involved in any other life threatening behaviour to enable them to remain at home or in their care setting. This service will respond to the young person within their home environment (parental home or other care setting) offering face to face support within two hours of referral, until the risk has reduced - this can be between 1-5 days. The service will be staffed with registered mental health nurses and mental health support workers to go to the young person's care placement and mitigate any risks. The agency must have a proven track record and relevant expertise and be registered with the care inspectorate and nursing and midwifery Council. This is a recurring requirement; however it is difficult to predict how often the service will be required because of the needs of the young people.

This is a recurring requirement which the value has been estimated for a ten year period; however it is difficult to predict how often the service will be required because of the needs of the young people.. The provider must have considerable experience of delivering services to young people in crisis. All staff must have met all their professional bodies' registration requirements including Continuous Professional Development hours. The provider must be able to offer 24 hour support 7 days a week to the young person until the risk has been reduced.
