The new roof consists of a steel and glass lantern to replace the existing mansard roof along with associated internal works to allow access to the lantern, and ultimately for the tower to be bought back into use as a meeting space or leased for commercial activities. Porters Lodge: The main priority works are the reinstatement of the roof (currently non-existent), stabilising the external envelope and making the building wind and watertight. Other works to follow include masonry repairs and repointing, refurbishment of windows and doors and lining the rooms to allow future use. Lot 1 has an estimated value of GBP 550,000 excluding VAT.     "description": "The Stornoway Trust and Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar are working in partnership to restore and improve Lews Castle Grounds in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. The partners have been successful in securing Heritage Lottery funding under the Parks for People programme which, together with contributions from the Trust, the Comhairle and Historic Environment Scotland (HES) will enable significant restoration and repair works to historic features. The purpose of this notice is to advise contractors of two (2) forthcoming contract opportunities. Contract 1 Lews Castle Grounds Buildings Works (Lot 1) and Structures Works (Lot 2) This contract will be split into two lots and contractors can submit offers for one or both lots.
