Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by Turner & Townsend involves the appointment of a design team for the Govanhill Housing Association project located at 159/161 Butterbiggins Road, Glasgow. This project entails the development of approximately 25 flatted units, including the demolition of an existing building. The tender was completed with an anticipated total construction cost of around £3.5 million, classified under the housing and community amenities industry. The procurement method used was a selective procedure with documents for bids submitted electronically by the deadline on 22 January 2018, while site works are expected to commence in early 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for architecture, engineering, and consultancy businesses, particularly those with experience in social housing projects. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) like Coltart Earley Ltd and larger firms such as TCS Construction Consultants and Scott Bennett Associates may find themselves well-suited to compete due to their respective qualifications and capabilities. The project requires services including architectural design, quantity surveying, and various engineering specialisations, making it ideal for businesses with a strong portfolio in similar developments.
