Notice Description

The overall objective of this Contract is to appoint a competent Contractor to replace the geared drive assemblies and associated motors to the two Bavak gates at both HMP Edinburgh and HMP & YOI Polmont.

A recent survey carried out on the two main Bavak bi-folding speed security vehicle gates at HMP Edinburgh and HMP Polmont highlighted several issues that require action: At both of these Establishments the gates have geared drive assemblies located beneath chequered plates which have suffered severe corrosion due to the Scottish climate; and In order to overcome the corrosion issue and advance fault free operation the existing system shall be replaced with a replacement geared drive system, electric motor, which shall be weather resistant, either in its make up or by its housing and anti condensation heating. Therefore, the overall objective of this Contract is to appoint a competent Contractor to replace the geared drive assemblies and associated motors to the two Bavak gates at both HMP Edinburgh and HMP & YOI Polmont.
