Notice Description

Protecting individuals and populations through immunisation is a highly successful public health intervention that saves many lives across the world each year. As part of the Scottish Immunisation Programme (SIP) the flu vaccine programme aims to reduce the impact of flu on the Scottish population, and the national flu immunisation awareness campaign is integral to its success. The national flu immunisation (annual) awareness campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of the flu vaccine: ensuring that those at risk know they are eligible for the free vaccine; recognise that flu is serious; are aware of how it could affect them; and prioritise getting vaccinated.NHS Health Scotland is a national health board, working to reduce health inequalities. As these wider inequalities both contribute to - and are in part driven by - differences in vaccine uptake, the flu immunisation campaign also seeks to reduce inequalities in vaccine uptake.
