Summary of the contracting process

The Forestry Commission is procuring Medium Term Contracts (MTCs) for civil engineering services, specifically focusing on hired machinery, maintenance, crushing, and screening of existing forest roads. This procurement falls under the 'works' category and is currently in the contract award stage following its completion in June 2018. The tender has been issued for areas spanning Cowal, Trossachs, and various locations in the Scottish Lowlands, with a total contract value of approximately £13,078,000. Key dates include the submission deadline on 11th June 2018 and the award period commencing the same day.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs specialising in civil engineering, earthworks, and machinery hire, as well as companies with capabilities in road maintenance and crushing services. Businesses that are well-placed to compete will find a chance to engage in long-term contracts, enhancing their market presence while contributing to environmental management efforts within Scotland. Potential bidders should ensure they meet the financial and insurance requirements stipulated in the tender documents to qualify for consideration.
