Development Objectives The key objectives of the proposals and alterations to the visitor centre at Drumpellier are as follows: -To improve visitor arrival to the building -To create an internal space that is a backdrop to the stunning loch and surrounding landscape -To improve the visitor experience by incorporating a new interpretation area within the existing building -To provide new visitor viewing spaces in the form of a new extension to the building -To improve the existing outdoor spaces to create fully accessible interpretation and education areas -To improve the connection between the existing building and the car park area. Outline scope of works The works are to include: -The renovation / making good of existing building fabric and structure. Including wall, floor and ceiling finishes internally, and roof walls, doors, windows, together with hard landscaping externally. -The extension of the existing visitor centre including new steel structure within timber framed construction clad in timber, new powder coated metal framed, double glazed windows and doors, including metal security shutters. New EPDM roof covering to extension. -Walls and ceilings to be painted throughout the entrance area, meeting room and main visitor spaces, servery and kitchen. New timber flooring to be laid within floor area of the new extension. New carpet to be laid within existing meeting room. -Existing reception desk and servery to be over clad -Mansafe system to be installed within the underside of the projecting soffit above the new extension window. -MEP services altered to suit new extension including rainwater drainage, above ground drainage, water services, heating, natural ventilation, lighting, security and fire alarm. -External works to include provision of topsoil, planting of ornamental grass, groundcover shrubs and trees. Hard surfaces to include permeable paving, precast paving, and associated kerbing, together with external seating.
