Contract Objective The existing wood lathes within secondary schools range in age and condition, however generally they are of a 1960's vintage. Whilst they are a robust piece of machinery that has lasted well, parts are no longer available, ensuring compliance with PUWER and other relevant H&S legislation is becoming increasingly challenging. The replacement of these 26 lathes across the nine Secondary Schools will aid towards the Council delivering on the Priority of 'Provide the best start in live for all our children', which also sits within Children, Young People and Lifelong Learnings business plan for 'Invest in creating schools fit for the 21st century which are at the heart of our communities'.
