Notice Description

Heat supply contract

Lot Information

Lot 1

Culture and Sport Glasgow requires to procure heat for the purposes of providing renewable heat to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum as part of an innovative renewable heat and supply project. The project is based on utilising the latent heat contained within the sewer water that flows in the many sewer pipes in the subsurface of the city of Glasgow. Due to the nature and composition of the waste water that flows through the sewer network, there is a considerable untapped heat source, contained within a ready built heat network. Through the use of high efficiency, low carbon heat pumps and innovative macerator equipment, that latent heat can be amplified to a level that will be able to interface with existing buildings heating systems and provide thermal comfort. It is considered not to be technically possible for a supplier other than BEL to provide competitively-priced heat due to Configuration and combination of the heat pump technology by have characteristics and functionality which satisfies requirements. BEL has been granted exclusive rights by Scottish Water and Scottish Water Horizons to operate on the sewer network owned and operated by them.
