Lot Information
Lot 1
Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) wish to appoint a contractor to capture Arctic charr at Loch Eck SSSI for the purposes of establishing a new population of this species, which captures as much of the genetic diversity contained within this population as possible, to a new Ark site in Argyll. Experience of working with Arctic charr and their capture in designated sites is desirable, as is experience of establishing new populations of rare or vulnerable freshwater fish species. A knowledge of low impact capture methods is essential although we welcome new and innovative approaches to achieve capture with low or minimal mortality. The contractor will also be responsible for the rearing and translocation of juvenile Arctic charr at the end of the process. It is therefore essential that the contractor has access to suitable facilities to achieve this element of the contract. The value of this contract - which will be for one year - is under GBP50,000 but we are using a Prior Information Notice (PIN) to reach a wider potential field of candidates. This is not a Request for Quotation. Interested candidates are asked to forward details of relevant experience/skills and details of similar current/previous contracts undertaken to colin.bean@nature.scot by 17:00 hours on 3rd August 2018. Those deemed to have the most suitable/relevant experience and skills will be formally invited to submit a quotation.. Please note that the project manager, Professor Colin Bean, will be unavailable until 25th July but please still use the Q&A facility on this Prior Information Notice (PIN) to submit any questions. Please ignore the date in Section II.3 - a Contract Notice will not be published, only this PIN.
