The procurement stage is currently in the planning phase, with interested parties required to submit their expressions of interest by 17:00 on 3rd August 2018. The total value of the contract is under GBP 50,000 and is designated for specific service activities related to the translocation of a rare freshwater species.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental services, specifically those experienced in fish capture and translocation. Companies that have a background in working with Arctic charr, possess knowledge of low-impact capture methods, and can provide suitable facilities for rearing juvenile fish are particularly well-suited to submit their proposals. Given the project's aim to enhance genetic diversity within vulnerable fish populations, businesses with innovative, sustainable approaches will find a promising niche in this contract.

Lot Information

Lot 1

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) wish to appoint a contractor to capture Arctic charr at Loch Eck SSSI for the purposes of establishing a new population of this species, which captures as much of the genetic diversity contained within this population as possible, to a new Ark site in Argyll. Experience of working with Arctic charr and their capture in designated sites is desirable, as is experience of establishing new populations of rare or vulnerable freshwater fish species. A knowledge of low impact capture methods is essential although we welcome new and innovative approaches to achieve capture with low or minimal mortality.
