Two new critical advanced therapeutics products (EBV CTL bank and Improved Islet isolation) also require the use of a cell processor.

SNBTS require to purchase a cell processor which is able to carry out automated CD14+ monocyte selection in a fully functionally closed CE-marked system. This is a major component of our MHRA-licensed MACTH clinical trial in cirrhosis. The equipment must also carry out the IFN-Gamma Cytokine Capture System (CCS) process. This is a vital manufacturing step in our improved process for the manufacture of Epstein Barr Virus-Specific T cells (EBV CTL).

This procurement will follow Regulation 33 of the Procurement rules: negotiated procedure without prior publication. --(1) A contracting authority may award a public contract following negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice or prior information notice in any of the following cases-- (b) where the works, supplies or services can be supplied only by a particular economic operator for any of the following reasons-- (i)the aim of the procurement is the creation or acquisition of a unique work of art or artistic performance; (ii) competition is absent for technical reasons; (iii)the protection of exclusive rights, including intellectual property rights, but only, in the case of paragraphs (ii) and (iii), where no reasonable alternative or substitute exists and the absence of competition is not the result of an artificial narrowing down of the parameters of the procurement;
