Notice Description

We propose to upgrade and replace all tiled and glazed roofing to the entire building @ 49 Scott Street, Garnethill to the block of flats.

Lot Information

Lot 1

To replace all tiled and glazed roofing to the entire building. The building was constructed during 1984 and the roof covering is the original Marley Eternit fibre cement slates. A sample has been tested and found to contain Chrysotile (White Asbestos). This material must be stripped and disposed of in compliance with the current edition of the Disposal of Asbestos Regulations (2012) As we are changing the roof covering from an Eternit fibre cement slate to a heavier concrete tile, we commissioned Punch Consulting Engineers (Structural Engineers) to assess the roof timbers. Their report states that, "On removing of the existing Eternit slate, a new roof material up to a maximum self-weight of 0.67KN/m2 (68kg/m2) can be used as a replacement under the current roof truss structure". We then involved Marley Eternit and they have recommended their Modern concrete tile. Colour Ref: Anthracite or Equal Specification of Tile
