Medical equipment management is currently undertaken on an individual board by board basis across NHS Scotland. This inhibits national oversight of inventory, opportunities to procure on a national basis and ensure consistency of approach. As such NHS Scotland is considering implementing a single medical equipment management system that enables such national oversight, whilst maintaining local board control. The main areas of interest around opportunities to increase value lie in improving the consistency in approach to medical equipment management, and the current sixteen separate instances are a barrier to this. There is currently scenario inhibits; - Consistency of approach - Decision making and planning - Cost saving opportunities - Collective purchasing power - Cross-border resource sharing - Opportunities to improve service resilience - Adherence with regulations and legislation - Consistency of patient care The current systems employed by each board are largely procured on a year by year contractual basis and vary in capability. They all continue to support individual boards, but there is a need to test the market in order to ensure due diligence and best value for money. This market testing exercise forms part of that work and will assist in identifying options to be considered and, if appropriate, a subsequent procurement for a solution.. A questionnaire has been uploaded to this notice to allow suppliers to respond to which will provide NHS Scotland with information from the market to better inform their procurement decisions.Closing date for questionnaire responses is noon on Wednesday 21st November 2018. Please respond as per instructions in the document.
