Summary of the contracting process

West Lothian Council is initiating a tender process for the "CC9384 Grass, Hedge Cutting and Ad-Hoc Services" contract, aimed at providing gardening support to vulnerable residents within the West Lothian region. This planned procurement falls under the services industry category and is expected to commence around late March to early April of the upcoming year. The total value of the contract is estimated at £188,000, and it involves maintaining around 2,056 gardens with a mix of grass cutting and hedge trimming services. Interested parties should note that the deadline for submission of tenders will be announced on 15th November 2018, aligning with the council's planning stage for this service.

This tender presents significant opportunities for landscaping and gardening service providers, particularly those with the capacity to manage the projected scale of work and demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the council. As the contract is anticipated to be awarded to a sole supplier for a period of three years, businesses specialising in grounds maintenance, landscaping, and ancillary services will find this an advantageous opportunity to strengthen their foothold in the local market while contributing to community welfare. Suppliers will be evaluated on a 60/40 price-quality basis, making it crucial for competitors to not only provide competitive pricing but also exhibit quality in their offerings.

Notice Title

CC9384 Grass, Hedge Cutting and Ad-Hoc Services

Notice Description

Housing Services provide gardening support to vulnerable residents of West Lothian. The council currently provides services to approximately 2,056 gardens, extending to void properties, ensuring gardens are in an acceptable condition for rental. The aforementioned figures are typical; however, numbers may fluctuate due to weather conditions, changes to customer needs and/or budget constraints. Services consist of eleven grass cuts, four of which require edges to be strimmed. A single hedge trimming service is provided to all active customers. Grass cutting commences in March each year and on request small scale path, fencing, landscaping, grounds maintenance and tidy-up works may be required, in areas covered by the Service. It is anticipated that given the nature of these services the contract would be better suited to a sole supplier
