Notice Description

To conduct research, development and first-in-man demonstration of a fibre-based optical sensing and imaging platform (FOSIP) for detecting physiological and pathological events in the lungs of critically-ill ventilated patients. This is a highly interdisciplinary five-year programme which is manufacturing prototype medical devices for use in clinical investigations. Our first device has been taken into clinic and has been used in six patients. We are now developing a system with real-time fluorescence lifetime capability, again for use in clinic, and to achieve this we need to use a high specification supercontinuum laser. We wish to procure two such lasers: one for use in our clinical system and one for use in our lab-based system.
