The Purchaser requires a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) who will assist in ensuring compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017.

The Purchaser requires a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA), the Supplier, who will assist in ensuring compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. By meeting its expectations, the Supplier will help the Purchaser promote a safe operational environment for staff and those in its care. Whilst the Specification will outline the full requirement, the Supplier, acting as RPA, shall generally be expected to undertake the following Services in line with guidance given in L121 ACOP Working with Ionising Radiation: - Provide general guidance on radiological protection, legislative requirements, training requirements and other relevant matters to ensure that the Purchaser complies with Regulation 22: Dose Assessment and Recording; - Provide advice on immediate restorative action to ensure safety of personnel after an accident involving exposure to radiation, keeping the Purchaser compliant with Regulation 13: Contingency Plans. Where necessary, the Supplier shall provide advice on chromosome aberration analysis and whole body monitoring at no additional charge; - Visit the Purchaser's sites, as per the Specification, on an annual basis to assess radiation protection standards and provide visit reports, detailing advice and recommendations, within one month of the visit taking place. This will ensure that the Purchaser remains compliant with Regulation 8: Risk Assessment and Regulation 17: Controlled Areas; - Provide an annual inspection of all Equipment containing a radioactive source; and - Provision of an 'Instrument Testing' service only on request from the Purchaser, for Dose Rate & Contamination Monitors; Quartz Fibre Electrometers; Bleepers and Personal Alarm Dosimeters.
