CalMac Ferries Limited (CFL) is an operating company of the David MacBrayne Group, which is wholly owned by Scottish Ministers. It operates the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Service contract, providing passenger, vehicle and freight shipping services on 29 routes, serving 53 ports and harbours across the west coast of Scotland and the Scottish Islands. It operates a fleet of 33 vessels and carries 5.5 million passengers and 1.5 million vehicles annually with an average 440 sailings a day. The company earned the National Transport Award for Ferry Operator of the Year in 2018, delivering punctuality and technical reliability performance at 99.6% and 99.4% respectively. CFL is now planning to deliver a modern booking, ticketing and travel experience for its customers and staff. The experience will be standardised, accessible, digitally-enabled and efficient. It will help us to optimise capacity planning and vessel utilisation and will open up opportunities for smart and integrated travel. CFL is seeking to secure a standard, off the shelf reservations and ticketing software package or packages plus ancillary products and services to bring the new customer experience to life and to help us keep pace with digital evolution. The Ar Turas (Scottish Gaelic for 'Our Journey') programme has been conceived to envision the new customer experience, and to deliver the business and customer change involved.
