Summary of the contracting process

This procurement process is conducted by The Common Services Agency, commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), targeting the supply of Teriparatide to health boards across NHS Scotland. The procurement is at the Award stage, with a completed framework agreement worth £2,384,931 signed on 4th October 2019. The process adopted an open procurement method, allowing a transparent competition for suppliers, and has covered the requirements of health services in the UK. The operational location for delivery includes all entities constituted under the National Health Services (Scotland) Act 1978.

The tender presents significant opportunities for businesses within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, particularly those that specialise in the production and supply of medical goods. Businesses with capabilities to meet rigorous health standards, such as maintaining a UK Marketing Authorisation and ISO certifications, will be well-positioned to participate in similar future opportunities. This framework allows for multiple suppliers, meaning companies of various sizes can engage and potentially secure contracts that support NHS operations, thus fostering business growth in a vital sector.
