Notice Description

This notice relates to the construction of the National Manufacturing Institute for Scotland. The building will be approx. 11,500m2 GIFA and sits on an 11 acre site. The (NMIS) will be an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise where research, industry and the public sector work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation to attract investment and make Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing. The new build facility will be a state of the art facility comprised of: - The Digital Factory 2050- industry led centre for collaborative manufacturing research, technology and solution development. - The Innovation Collaboratory (incorporating the 'Forum')- Industry led centre for manufacturing technology application and process development - The Manufacturing Skills Academy- Scotland's hub for manufacturing skills and education - The "Forum"- providing links to business support, to the One Scotland Partners and external organisations.

Lot 1

The University sought to appoint a suitably experienced Principal Contractor to undertake the construction requirements of the NMIS. The successful Contractor will take possession of the NMIS site and setup the contractor's welfare and storage compound, including forming an access haul road from Abbotsinch Road to the compound. A site plan is to be produced by the contractor to show the temporary works to form the access and compound. The site is a former arable farm and the necessary change of use has been approved for the formation of the AMIDS Business Park (being developed by Renfrewshire Council) and NMIS is one of the first developments to be constructed. The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) will also be under construction adjacent to NMIS, and the new realigned Abbotsinch Road will also be under construction. The NMIS contractor will be required to work collaboratively with these neighbouring contractors to ensure a successful delivery of the initial AMIDS park implementation. The contractor will construct the NMIS building including the land preparation, new piled foundations and substructure, superstructure and roof, internal elements and building services, landscaping to the site area up to the boundary and connecting the NMIS access and egress roads to the Renfrewshire Council's new roads, all to deliver a fully completed and operational National Manufacturing Institute Scotland.

Renewal: The University are issuing this contract under the NEC3 ECC standard form contract with amendments, this contract allows for compensation events in certain circumstances as detailed within the tender documents. Certain situations may have the affect of extending project timescales.
