Notice Description

This Invitation to Tender (ITT) relates to the procurement of a Service Provider for the Provision of Museum Services and other associated professional services in relation to the National Mining Museum Scotland's Master Plan Project.The Trust wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced partner to deliver a number of services in relation to the development and ultimate delivery of the Strategic Plan and associated Business Plan. In addition, an Asset Strategy including a Conservation and Maintenance Plan is required to deliver the objectives and recommendations laid out in the Strategic Plan.

The Mining Ahead Project is an exciting opportunity for the National Mining Museum Scotland Trust (NMMST) to create a new strategic framework for the next ten years that will include the commissioning of: -Strategic Plan -Business Plan -Asset Strategy -Conservation and Maintenance Plan. NMMST wishes to commission consultants to allow the Trust to set out its new ambitions for the future. These ambitions would be set out in a new Strategic Plan, a new Business Plan to help NMMS become more financially sustainable and an Asset Strategy to help NMMS understand and manage all of its physical assets with consideration of a rationalisation of the estate. The assets (in terms of buildings) are extensive and are maintenance-heavy, with some urgently requiring conservation. It is hoped that a Conservation and Maintenance Plan will provide the framework to enable NMMST to take forward recommendations from a recent Condition Survey (2016). Furthermore, in the long term NMMST will pursue significant capital development of the estate and these studies will assist with this process. This is a significant project and very important to the Trust and the museum itself. As a valued asset in celebrating the industrial heritage of Scotland, this project should help the museum safeguard its future going forward, enabling the museum to remain relevant for future generations.
