The AFRC in Inchinnan has a requirement for optical based residual stress measurement equipment. As an example, the proposed system could be based on Digital Image Correlation (DIC) or laser interferometry. The system should be capable of residual stress measurement on flat and curved surfaces (including complex surface geometries that are unsuitable for conventional strain gauge based hole drilling methods). The system must be capable of residual stress measurement in materials including steel, titanium, aluminium and nickel based superalloys.. Potential bidders are asked to note their interest against this PIN by COB 22/11/19, at which point further details regarding the pre-tender market engagement will be released.
