Notice Description

Visual inspections of Largs sea wall have confirmed the structure is suffering from natural wear and tear caused by erosion from the sea. A further survey confirmed that reinforcement was required. In addition to this, visual surveys confirmed that the section of Largs promenade behind the sea wall requires resurfacing. North Ayrshire Council are seeking a suitably qualified contractor to carry out the required repairs to Largs sea wall and resurfacing of Largs promenade. The successful supplier will also be responsible for implementing traffic management systems during promenade resurfacing. Work is estimated to commence in Spring of 2020, to take advantage of favourable weather conditions.

Visual inspections of Largs sea wall have confirmed the structure is suffering from natural wear and tear caused by erosion from the sea. A further survey confirmed that reinforcement was required. In addition to this, visual surveys confirmed that the section of Largs promenade behind the sea wall requires resurfacing. The proposed Works are as summarised below: Seawall Repair Works (Concrete Repair) -Removal of existing gunite facing in two sections -Concrete repairs to cope, toe and wall face -Concrete extension of toe in areas of undermining -Demolition of steps and re profiling of structure -Installation of dry spray render facing to full wall, approximately 297m in length -Installation of extension to handrails at step locations Seawall Repair Works (Cathodic Protection) -Installation, testing, commissioning of cathodic protection system to existing wall -Ongoing monitoring of cathodic protection system Promenade Resurfacing Works -Resurfacing of the pavement behind the seawall North Ayrshire Council would like to appoint a suitably qualified contractor to carry out the required repairs to Largs sea wall and resurfacing of Largs promenade. The successful supplier will also be responsible for implementing traffic management systems during promenade resurfacing. Work is estimated to commence in Spring of 2020, to take advantage of favourable weather conditions.
