Summary of the contracting process

The Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) has awarded legal services contracts as part of a framework agreement, specifically titled "Award of Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) Legal Services - Framework SP-18-010 Lot 6 Call Off". This procurement process is situated within the services industry, and the main buying organisation involved is the Scottish Government. The tender was active from 1 April 2020 until 31 March 2023, with an option for a 12-month extension to potentially extend the contracts to 31 March 2024. The primary procurement method employed was a mini-competition, resulting in the selection of two service providers, namely Harper Macleod LLP and Anderson Strathern LLP, with an award value of approximately £1,166,550.

This opportunity presents a significant chance for legal firms specialised in regulatory and trustee services to expand their business reach in the public sector. Companies with expertise in general legal advice, court action, and conveyancing would be well-positioned to compete for future contracts within this framework. The environment created by the Accountant in Bankruptcy's requirement for such services encourages not only established legal firms but also emerging legal service providers to explore collaboration and competitive bidding strategies.
