Notice Description
New legislation was introduced under the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 (Tolerable Standard) (Extension of Criterion) Order 2019 which includes an element covering smoke and heat alarms. This legislation comes into force on 1st February 2021 and therefore Moray Council must ensure that the housing stock meets the criteria noted by that deadline, along with all other social landlords in Scotland.

New legislation was introduced under the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 (Tolerable Standard) (Extension of Criterion) Order 2019 which now includes an element covering smoke and heat alarms. The introduction of smoke and heat alarms in the tolerable standard is in recognition of the danger fire poses to the occupants of a house, and is intended to reduce the risk of loss of life, injury and damage to property in the event of fire.
