You are invited to respond to a request for information (RFI) about HIAL's proposals to procure contractors to design and install upgrades to the existing reed beds at Inverness Airport. The proposed upgrade shall improve the treatment of rainwater collected from around the airfield, contaminated by de-icing agent prior to its discharge in to the local water environment. The benefit of particular interest sought from the upgrade is a significant improvement in water quality which allows the airport to achieve its permitted discharge limit of 3 Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) with a high level of frequency, from the existing level of 10 BOD at the inlet. Note that the plan dimensions of the reed beds cannot be altered. The information provided will assist HIAL in shaping the scope and specification for future procurement. It includes no element of supplier selection or bid evaluation and responses will not prejudice any future procurement exercise.
