The purchase of Ruthenium-106 applicators / plaques that are placed surgically at the back of the eye to treat ophthalmic tumours. In Scotland this service is provided only at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre as a National Service to Scotland. The service is funded nationally. The department has 5 active plaques at any given time and on average we replace all 5 over an 18 month period. Consideration is being given to a 36 Month Contract..
