Notice Description

ARA requires to appoint a suitable contractor to replace / replicate a damaged cast iron pedestal on New Bridge, Ayr. The New Bridge in Ayr (grid reference NS 33721 22171) is a category B listed building dating from 1879. One of the cast iron pedestals at the south-west corner of the bridge has sustained damage. The top part of the casting has broken off completely, leaving the lower part of the casting still attached to the bridge parapet. Site investigation, including collection of damaged parts of the cast iron pedestal from ARA Store: Gauchalland Depot, Ayr Road, Galston, East Ayrshire, KA4 8LE Traffic safety and control. (Vehicle and pedestrian) Removal and recovery of the remaining part of the cast iron pedestal from the bridge parapet. Design and production of any patterns, cores, moulds etc required for the production of a replica cast iron pedestal. Production of a cast iron replica of the original pedestal in a suitable grade of cast iron. Installation of new cast iron replica on the bridge parapet. Attachment of a suitable 100mm x 100mm x 100mm galvanised steel connector box to rear of pedestal with access from the box to the pedestal interior. Installation of draw-rope from connector box to top of pedestal to facilitate internal cable installation. Suitable paint system to include for anti-corrosion and gloss black finish. Responsible disposal/recycling of any waste. Please note: The installation of the internal wiring and lantern will be carried out by Ayrshire Roads Alliance upon completion of the installation of the replica cast iron pedestal.. Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) is a shared integrated roads and transportation service established in 2014 and provides the combined roads service for East and South Ayrshire Councils. The Service is delivered with the overall objective of improving the road and transportation service in both Council areas.
