"description": "Explanation: The Quanterix SIMOA HD-X Analyzer is an integrated platform comprised of the HD-X instrument, disposable microfluidic array discs and dedicated assay reagents. Quanterix Corporation is the sole manufacturer, vendor, and service provider for the Simoa HD-X Analyzer technology. The HD-X Analyzer is the only fully automated multiplex digital immunoassay system on the market providing fg/ml sensitivity for detection of protein biomarkers. The HD-X instrument and Simoa reagents are generally covered by patents. There are no licensed systems or products offered by third party providers that are able to use any components or methods of the Quanterix Simoa technology platform. The UK DRI, as an entity, is very keen to promote sharing and collaboration. All of our equipment is available to be used by the local research community, by other UK DRI centres (of which there are six others around the UK), and any other collaborators, therefore, this purchase will open up proprietary precision biomarker technology and analysis to many researchers. This technology is changing the way the biology of health and disease is studied, and will help us detect diseases earlier, provide better prognoses, and enhance treatment methods not only in diseases on the dementia spectrum but also diseases such as COVID-19 due to its unparalleled sensitive detection of biomarkers.
