Notice Description

North Lanarkshire Council wishes to establish a contract for Ground Investigation works which will comprise typical investigation methods using boring, drilling, in situ penetration testing, sampling, laboratory testing and delivery of a Factual Report to inform the route of a proposed highway scheme of the order of 9km in length.

Lot 1

The expected works will comprise investigation of soil and rocks on the route. Typically, standard methods of investigation are expected to be required, with frequency commensurate with the principles set out in BS EN1997 Eurocode 7 - Geotechnical Design. At this stage indicative requirements are: - 140 boreholes to various depths up to 25m, formed using cable percussive and/or rotary methods. - Investigation by probe drilling to locate and assess mine entries at 20 locations. - Investigation of mineral workings by rotary drilling and coring at 5 major structure locations, to depths up to 50m. - 500 machine excavated trial pits to various depths up to 4.5m. - In situ testing in boreholes and trial pits. - Soft ground assessment using Static Cone Penetration testing and peat probes. - Geo-environmental sampling and testing. - Groundwater installations and monitoring. - Laboratory testing of rocks and soils for engineering properties. Laboratory testing of soils and rocks for chemical properties. - Laboratory testing of soils and rocks for organic and mineral contamination. - Laboratory testing of soils and rocks for Waste Classification..
